We had a busy morning trying to get everything repacked into the suitcases that had been reshuffled and we were beginning to wonder where it all had come from and this time the luggage was only our stuff and the orphanage gifts had been given out.  But we made it and loaded up the shuttle bus.  We were off to the first stop which was the Provincial Police Station where we received the Adoption Certificate and signed some papers and then we did get Levi's Passport.  He looked so official in his little passport photo.  A real keeper.  Such a visual.  We have 4 US Passports (Navy Blue) and 1 Chinese (burgundy).  Small things like that along the way make it seem more and more real.

The Adoption Certificate with Jack--really a great man that cares deeply

Laura & Liu from Chicago area in Fuzhou

The last couple of days in Fuzhou were stressful.  Levi boycotted the bottle and we were searching for food that we would eat.  We continued to sneak formula in the yogurt, congee and noodles which he did not seem adverse to.  But we really were concerned especially since bonding is so good when you're able to bottle feed.  Miracle.  He began to take a bottle today.  In fact after Cindy made the hole even bigger we just squirt it in his mouth and he takes it--all of it so for that we are grateful and he seems to be settling in a little more.  It's easy to assume there's little adjustment, but when the Civil Affairs representative, Jack spoke to him in his dialect to tell him to smile--he immediately did!!!!  That was so good for us to see. And it's a reminder of what he has to overcome in his short life already.

It's Gotta Fit!

The bus ride to the airport took about an hour and our flight was delayed about 45 minutes.  We found a cafe and ate dinner and managed to get through that well.

As we drove out of Fuzhou, besides leaving Cindy's parents there to fly home Saturday the 25th(today) we felt an unexpected sadness.  That Levi was leaving his home province for a very long time or forever.  He was leaving his world and going into a brand new culture, world, etc.

Heading out!  Can't believe Grandma and Grandpa are not coming too!

The Lakeside Hotel Staff- So very helpful and kind!

The flight was a record of miracles.  The overweight bags were once again of no consequence. We just moved through with no problems or questions.  Levi slept from take off to landing!!!  He was fussy right at first, but as soon as the plane began to taxi he was lulled into a wonderful sleep.  We arrived along with our baggage and met Angela at the baggage claim.  She was all prepared and we were off on the shuttle to the hotel.  That was about an hour drive.

Cold and damp at the airport by the sea--Levi just before he leaves his birth province

Then we arrived at the hotel.  Oh my.  We are paying Hampton Inn prices for this hotel and it's a phenomenal place.  Can there be more than 5 stars?  You would never know you were in China until you try to speak with the staff.  It looks like an Italian Villa--a really big one.  The lobby is decorated to look like the Sistine Chapel and the hallways, the views, the everything.  We were so drop dead exhausted and to arrive here was a real haven of rest from the Lord.  The hotel is the centerpiece of this Planned Community called Phoenix City.  The neighborhoods around the hotel are just as magnificent as the hotel!

The Breakfast Buffet!

Saturday, today-we ran some errands to get water and snack foods for the room and spent most of the day resting.  Levi is doing great, taking his bottles and pooping.  Just like a 13 month old should.  You just don't know how great that feels to know everything is working.

The boys are having fun, playing Ping Pong, going swimming in the indoor pool and just not having to do much.  We all have appreciated this break in the schedule without waiting on the next appointment, etc.

Ping Pong!

We plan to attend church in Guangzhou in the morning and look forward to that.  There are basically two options-the Christian or Catholic as they refer to them.  We really are anticipating this opportunity to renew and take Levi to church for the first time.

Hopefully I can update with photos Sunday the 26th.
